The Diamond in the Blackness of Me
(Inspired by Desiree A. Williams March 17 2014, “Just Me”)

In the Blackness of me there is peace
In the Blackness of me there is love
In the Blackness of me there is hope

In the Blackness of me I am protected from the white heat of
melted steal-like hate that gathers as dust at the end of the day
discarded into the white barren landscape reflecting
the death of me, the emptiness of me in the absence of
the Blackness of the rich soil of mother nature’s womb
reflecting the infertility of me, reflecting the death of us all.

Bring onto me the Blackness of me so that I may live
Bring onto me the Blackness of me so that I may share
Bring onto me the Blackness of me so that I may care

Care for the history of me not the whitening self destruction of me
Care for the blood that flowed to protect this very Blackness of me
Care for nature’s natural whiteness that requires the rich Blackness of me

Mirror mirror on the wall, why have all my black brothers and sisters
grown blind to it all,
Why have all their mirrors been broken being replaced by this deadly
Witch of White Hall
Mirror mirror on the wall, I pray this one prayer, return to us the knowledge
That which we so treasure, that Diamond of so many pleasures, is born
from the Blackness of mother nature’s coal deep with her soul
Behold I am the Diamond that lives only in the Blackness of me
