My Mississauga~

The Monroe Buildings in Mississauga Ontario Canada

As dusk sets over the boulevard
under the shadow of the Monroes
I wonder if what was,
could be like it use to, back when
But wanting the sweet memories
without the better pain
And just like Marilyn once
our light shun so very brightly
but dusk came as we slept
awaking to what has become
our forever unlikely

Thinking of the tall tales
we’ll tell our children
The romance that blossomed
on a summer’s day now so very
far, far away
Wondering what will become
of our hidden memories
when burdened with the secrets
we keep
Guarded by the truths we’ll
never speak

As we drive along the boulevard
under the guard of the Monroes
another summer evening give way
to dusk and sleep gives way
to morning that brings us the reminder
that soon even our most precious
of memories we’ll no longer keep

And I smile as the tears flow
knowing from where they came
but not of where they’ll go
And I smile in joy of my redemption
giving unto you my gift of forgiveness
And I smile when thinking of the
time we shared
And I smile in celebration of knowing
we dared
