Putting my feet into prompt #21
GRATITUDE x 10
GRATITUDE has always been nebulous
I have never been a fan of anything that has a number to it when it comes to the humanities. For example, the 21 best ways to do this or 10 best ways to be loved or and so on.
I have however always been a fan of expressing gratitude and every opportunity offered. The need to constantly praise GOD in public appearances as if you would be struck dead or fail your public’s expectations out of the very fear of being cursed also offends me.
However, in 2022, I am most grateful for
A) Jah’s blessings and for these things:
B) The continued safety and health of my children
C) The ending (we hope) of what was a global pandemic
D) The ending of the closure of entertainment spaces
E) The global community finally taking climate change more seriously
F) The calming of political rhetoric though its status remains fickle
G) The good fortune of having had a roof over my head
H) The wonderful support of my immediate family
I) The Medium family that kept me lit at times when things grew darkest
J) Last year I finally felt the lifting of that guilt of being relieved that Mom was able to close her eyes peacefully, even though she had been praying endlessly for that time to have arrived.
Of the many writers I have interacted with, one of the long-standing and interesting of writers on my list would be Tre L. Loadholt from the platform A Cornered Gurl. A platform that has challenged the writer to bring their honesty and raw self to the conversation.
Nancy Blackman, MASF (most likely would say, “not me”) is also a writer that has done me a wonderful solid. I have never taken on a writer’s challenge and stuck with it until your encouragement and that single act, over this past year, has changed my mentality and approach towards many aspects of life in many wonderful ways.
