At Age~
At age,
I am older than you can imagine
I need no lecture
At age,
I’ve long seen beyond your vision
matters not how far
At age,
I’ve been here before the foundation
matters not what the design
matters not the structure
At age,
of me
not too many things left for me to see
Now the streets are wilding for change
And upon the lips of every innocent child
comes a song
Change suddenly seems within range
Still the concrete registers cold
and upon impact the blood still flows
Packing the heat of legacy not of
weaponry
Reaching for the holster
that for a lifetime has long guarded my soul
At age,
change long overdue nothing else
left to do
At age,
just once before I die
and the needless cry
At age,
I can smile again
it’s clear there is much to do
and I’ve had enough of you
